Every day I get emails from people about their dogs, most of the emails are great and show that people really want to do what is best for their K9 pals. I also get letters that leave me in shock in awe. Here is one. In response to a video that I posted on YouTube someone wrote:
"dogs do not have feelings like humans do. They are not capable of the same capacities humans are. I agree that they feel pain and can be upset and hurt but they don't love, have compassion, nor do they understand complex feelings."
I know that I have been working with dogs for a long time, and that my love for them may cloud my judgment. I also know that dogs (as a rule) are not as smart as people. But when it comes to feeling emotions, I have no doubt that dogs are every bit as emotional as people if not more so. It brings me great sadness when I see people disregard the emotional lives as animals. Such disregards often lead to dog abuse and pain.
I will try to add a copy of the video that caused the comment to be given.
